With the Air Jordan 5 “Earth/Metallic Gold” in just under two weeks, another brand new colorway for the model will release this month with a few subtle flourishes.

The Air Jordan 5 “Year of the Snake” joins Jordan Brand‘s slate of Chinese New Year-themed releases with iridescent detailing. A shimmery rainbow effect is applied to the midsole’s shark teeth inspired by WW2 fighter planes, as well as the uppermost eyestay panels. Shades of white are then used for the bulk of the sneaker, with the exception of black Jumpman branding on the heel and a peach lace toggle inside a larger, translucent shell. The outsole is also rendered in translucent rubber, and a black faux snakeskin Jumpman hangtag matches that that comes with the other “Year of the Snake” Air Jordans.

A grey snakeskin-textured mudguard defines the Air Jordan 11 Low “Year of the Snake,” and the treatment then moves over to a metallic Swoosh on the Air Jordan 1 Low releasing for the occasion. On Thursday, Nike also released its Kobe 5 Protro “Year of Mamba” in “Eggplant,” and an additional variant in red will later release exclusively in China.

The streak of Air Jordan 5s will also continue into February with the debut of the Air Jordan 5 “Black Metallic Reimagined,” and the summer will see the return of the Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” more true to its original form.

The Air Jordan 5 “Year of the Snake” will release January 23, the day after the “Earth/Metallic Gold” colorway, through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $200, and sizing will be exclusive to women.
