This Upcoming Air Jordan Retro Has a Special Hidden Detail on a Small Percentage of Pairs

Following a first look at the sneaker in September, new details are surfacing about the upcoming “Rare Air” Air Jordan 4 Retro release.
Along with detailed images courtesy of GOAT, new information is circulating about a hidden detail on the upcoming release. The “Jordan Rare Air” behind the Velcro tongue patch will appear in gold on what’s said to be just 25 percent of the sneaker’s total stock, leaving the majority of pairs with white text.
The difference is a subtle one, but it’s a nostalgic throwback to special-edition sneakers of the 2000s and 2010s that’s certain to have collectors (and resellers) hunting down the gold-lettered pairs.
Aside from the hidden branding, the design of the Air Jordan 4 “Rare Air” is unique in that it’s reminiscent of the model’s classic “Bred” colorway, but adds a Deep Royal Blue shade which gives the new iteration a fresh look. Also of note is its pre-yellowed midsole coloring, a treatment that appears to be even more intense than usual.

Jordan Brand’s “Rare Air” Air Jordan Retro series also includes previously released men’s and women’s Air Jordan 1 High colorways. Product descriptions for those sneakers describe the concept as being inspired by imperfect samples, incorrect logo placement and seams and mismatched packaging. Joining the Air Jordan 1 Highs and the Air Jordan 4 Retro pictured here is an upcoming Air Jordan 3 Retro “Rare Air.”
With the expected release still months away, GOAT now has listings for both the gold lettering and white lettering versions of the “Rare Air” sneaker.
The Air Jordan 4 Retro “Rare Air” will be released on July 26 for a retail price of $215 from SNRKS and select Jordan Brand retailers. In addition to adult sizing, the style will be available in grade school, preschool and toddler sizes. The sneaker’s SKU is FV5029-003.
