You know when you see something you never thought you would, and it’s stuck in your mind for days (nay, weeks?) to come? Same. In fact, that just happened to me when I set my sights on Queen Letizia’s summer-perfect look that I could use a million adjectives to describe—ethereal, crisp, clean, cute, stylish, comfy, and easy-going are some that come to mind. But, another one is unexpected, because her footwear of choice is something I didn’t expect to see a queen wearing. But then again, a queen can wear whatever she wants!

Queen Letizia of Spain is always—and I mean, always—dressed to the nines. Looking put together is her M.O., and while she often wears dresses or suit sets, it’s like she knew I was in need of some summer outfit inspo, making sure her most recent ensemble offered up a lesson in warm-weather dressing that’s casual enough to wear every day, but still elegant enough to be worn by a, well, queen.

The royal went with an all-white look that was quintessential summer; she could easily have been out and about in Nantucket, but alas, she was actually at a royal event in Spain. But this proves that her outfit is versatile enough for all occasions. She wore white trousers that were perfectly tailored, the cutest lace-y, long-sleeve blouse with dainty frill detailing that had me itching for a similar one (which is why I’m eyeing this one, and this one, and this one, too), and last but certainly not least, white sneakers, because putting comfort at the forefront of this look was a totally smart style move.

Obviously, Queen Letizia is keen on heels; she’s worn slingbacks many times and she loves espadrilles, but seeing her in low-key sneakers was a welcomed change of pace in terms of her footwear options. She obviously went with the cripest, cleanest style there is—a simple, white, low-top silhouette that has subtle nods to a court sneaker without feeling too, well, pickleball-y. Such a versatile silhouette lends itself well to a slew of outfits, aka, that’s why I, along with countless other fashion editors and celebs, love simple white sneakers for all-season wear. They’re easy! They’re timeless! They’re comfy! And they look good.

No matter what you’re doing this summer, whether it’s attending a royal event (I wish!), traveling thousands of miles (yes!), or simply walking around a big city with no end destination in sight (also yes!), white sneakers are the answer.
