Manitobah Refreshes C-Suite With Nike Veterans as CEO and CFO

Manitobah has just announced a major refresh to its executive leadership team.

The footwear brand with indigenous roots this week announced Carolyn MacNaughton as CEO and Tom Hildrum as CFO. Mike Wodtke has shifted his role from chief digital officer to chief marketing officer.

MacNaughton replaces Manitobah’s former CEO Greg Tunney, who left his role in May after less than three years on the job, the company confirmed.

Before joining Manitobah, MacNaughton served as the president of machinery repair company Direct Repair Labs. Prior to that, she served as chief product officer at nurse shoe brand Bala and spent almost four years at Under Armour, culminating in her role as VP of accessories. And before that, she spent almost a decade at Nike, most recently as director of merchandising operations for global footwear.

“I’ve always admired [Manitobah’s] dedication to preserving and celebrating Indigenous culture. I’m excited to collaborate with the team to further elevate the brand’s global presence,” MacNaughton said in a release.

Hildrum also brings with him close to 15 years of experience at Nike, culminating in his role as VP of revenue and margin. Most recently, Hildrum was CFO of performance sunglass brand Roka.

“The extensive experience and dedication to our brand’s Indigenous heritage make these new team members great additions to guide Manitobah forward,” said founder and chief impact officer Sean McCormick in a statement. “We look forward to the wealth of insights and expertise they bring to our brand as we continue our journey of growth and community engagement.”

In addition to the executive leadership changes, Manitobah announced new appointments to its marketing, brand and HR teams, naming Brook Hopper as the new director of brand marketing, Kelly Krakalovich as customer acquisition and growth manager and Nikki Lace as human resources partner.

In 2021, Manitobah recieved a major financial investment from Endeavour Capital of Seattle, which pushed it into a new phase of growth. The footwear brand has since opened its own stores and has added Dillard’s, Farfetch, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Zappos.com as partners.

In September, Manitobah announced that it has been certified as a B Corporation, which measures a company’s environmental and social impact.
