Sept. 1, 2022: Pangaia has opened the brand’s first physical experience in Los Angeles at The Grove. The launch of this pop-up aligns with a huge milestone for the company as Pangaia celebrates its one million tree mark, having planted, protected or restored one million trees to date through the “Tomorrow Tree Fund.” Pangaia at The Grove features several curated product drops, including the Uniform Series 01 collection, which represents the brand’s new product architecture, developed to cover leisurewear, activewear, outerwear, and accessories. Brought together for the first time in the form of a modern wardrobe the range is underpinned by key Pangaia innovations such as Spiber, Infinited Fiber, Pineapple Shirting, Reclaim, FLWRDWN, Re-Color and Grape Leather Sneakers, as well as a collaboration with the artist Kenny Scharf. Using 3D audio spatialization, guests will be transported to a lush forest inspired by the coastal coniferous woodland biomes of Northern California – the soundscape will evolve as the day goes on to mimic the natural progression of the forest. As an added layer, the store is further brought to life through smells of greenery, wet soil, and moss. Pangaia at The Grove is now open through Sept. 27.

Aug. 26, 2022: Louis Vuitton has opened a new men’s store at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif. This new location is the ninth freestanding men’s store in the country, and the second in California, following the Rodeo Drive opening in July. The boutique offers the brand’s complete men’s range including leather goods, accessories, shoes, ready-to-wear, watches, and fragrance. Additional heritage categories such as Louis Vuitton’s publishing, iconic hardsided trunks, and the exclusive Objets Nomades collection complete the recherché selection. The exterior window’s design is inspired by classic boardgames like backgammon and complements an interior game room spotlighting the brand’s gaming, gifting, publishing, and Objets Nomades offerings. Within the main showroom, window-like interior vignettes — similarly referencing classic boardgame motifs — serve as the game room’s walls. Fine art abounds inside the space. The ready-to-wear section features a painting by California-based artist Marcel Rozek, who pours diluted pigment onto raw canvas, creating unexpected color relationships and abstract forms. In the leather goods section, surf culture is highlighted in a work by Peter Dayton, who paints bold stripes onto wooden panels shaped to resemble exaggerated surfboards.
